This Locomotive is in Excellent Running Condition. It has been converted from a GWR locomotive to BR - the GWR decals can still be faintly seen.

The Class 57xx Pannier Tank Locomotives were the iconic locomotives of the Great Western Railway. 863 Pannier Tank Locomotives were built between 1929 and 1950, making them the second most-produced British class of Steam Locomotive.  Many of these locomotives were subsequently subsumed by British Rail - and many sold for further use after being withdrawn from service by BR.  The National Coal Board bought six and London Transport purchased thirteen in total.  These were used used on the London Underground network starting from 1956. A number were used for Main Line service running to Watford.

The LT 5700s lasted until the end of steam on London Transport in 1971.  Sixteen 5700 class locomotives have been preserved, of which 8 are currently operational. Two of these have been certified to run on Network Rail Lines.
